According to the Springfield News Leader, developer Gardner Capital has broken ground on Missouri's largest solar farm. The 72 hectare project in Nixa, MO, will comprise 33,288 solar panels and reduce the city's carbon footprint by generating over 1,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy.

The 12 hectare facility will be equipped with thousands of ground-mounted solar panels capable of producing enough electricity to power 400 homes a year. In addition, the city of NIXa has the option to purchase 33,288 solar panels that generate 7.92 megawatts alternating current for a 72 hectare facility that will contain a total of 2,912 megawatts of electricity from the power.
In a hybrid solar system, solar cells on the roof are connected to a solar battery and the power grid. Throughout the day, from sunrise to sunset, the solar panel continuously generates electricity, which is sent to an inverter.
